The recent caption making waves on social media ‘I stand with Jolly’ will keep one wondering why and how it started.
Rev Jolly Nyame who was sentenced to 14years in prison with no option of fine was the first civilian governor of Taraba State.
He first ruled in 1991 before the coup that ushered in Abacha as military head of state and then he (Jolly Nyame) contested and won the governorship seat in 1999. He ruled for 8 years there after before handing over to late Danbaba.
Now back to my topic. A call on the judiciary to free Jolly is a well thought out call. Let me state some reasons below.

The specialist hospital, college of education zing, corp members orientation camp, multi purpose stadium, airport to mention but a few.
With all these achievement, yet he was the only prosecuted one. Garba Umar UTC who picked the mantle of leadership after his boss Danbaba Danfulani Suntai suffered injuries from a plane crash, looted N14B and he’s still walking free with no investigation opened or case filed against him by the EFCC reason is because he is an APC member.
Sani Abubakar Danladi who also embezzled about N6.3B who was charged to court by the EFCC, used political wisdom to defect to APC and he’s now seen a saint. His case has been adjourned to a farther date in 2019.
I gave these two examples so you understand the point I’m about to make.
Follow all corruption cases being tried by the judiciary now and you’ll find out 99% of the defendants are of the opposition folk.
The present federal government has taken it a personal issue to use all resources of state to fight opposition which is very bad to our democracy.

In justice, partiality is not allowed. But the case in Nigeria now is of selective justice where one is a saint the moment he defects to APC but you automatically become a demon if you belong to PDP.
The politics of witch hunting and bitterness is now the order of the day.
It is after critically understanding the situation that the people of Taraba are calling on the federal government to release the former governor. He reserves the right to belong to any political party of his choice. Him being a member of the opposition shouldn’t guarantee him a place in jail.
